A surprise telephone call summoned the family to my daughter's home for Lasagna.
Homemade lasagna with sausage, tomato sauce, grated parmesano, mozzarella and a side of garlic bread. To accompany the meal we had salad and broccoli.
Then the fun began. Sharing recent doctor appointments between delicious bites we do as we always..we interrupt each other, raise our hand for our turn to share and generally defer to the loudest family member.
After dinner and before dessert we passed the baby around. He was good enough to eat but we just kissed him and held him and gave into the fact that his legs were getting really strong.
I don't if I imagined this but I thought the assault of lasagna breath may have had sometime to do with him crossing his eyes and holding his fists up to his nose but I am sure that when he starts to talk he will interrupt us and tell us his tales of woe and happiness. Until then, we will just enjoy the family moments together.
